Shay is originally from the West Coast of Canada, growing up near Vancouver and moving to the coastal city as a university student. As the culture of Vancouver has long been oriented towards health and wellness, yoga was always on the periphery. However, competitive dance was her passion, and she dabbled in yoga as a compliment to her dance training.  As she continued with the practice she got hooked on the mental clarity and the peace of mind that she left the studio with. She gravitated to dynamic forms of yoga, and started her journey in Power Yoga classes at Semperviva Yoga.

Shay is a qualified 500H RYT. She trained with The Yoga People in Rocket, Ashtanga, Mandala Vinyasa, and Yin (and she loves teaching beginners). She is passionate about helping people find comfort and ease in their own bodies while having a few laughs and tumbles in the process. Shay encourages her students to challenge themselves with with an open mind and compassion to their own limits. She believes that the sacred does not need to be serious, and a good sense of humour does wonders on the mat and in life.
