Shay is a West Coast Canadian, born and raised. She has been living in London since 2014, and began teaching in the city four months later. She was immediately excited by the beginnings of a yoga culture in a place so different from home, and has loved every minute of teaching on this side of the world.
Shay has a background in dance, where she participated in dance competitions in a variety of styles. She began practising yoga as a compliment to her dance training, but as she continued with the practice she got hooked on the mental clarity and the peace of mind that she left the studio with. She has always gravitated to dynamic forms of yoga, and has experience with Ashtanga based systems. However, as her practice progresses, she is finding more slowness and stillness.
Shay is a qualified 400h RYT. She trained with The Yoga People in Rocket, Ashtanga, and Mandala Vinyasa (and she loves teaching beginners). She is passionate about helping people find comfort and ease in their own bodies while having a few laughs and tumbles in the process. Shay encourages her students to challenge themselves with with an open mind and compassion to their own limits. She believes that the sacred does not need to be serious, and a good sense of humour does wonders on the mat and in life.
